New beginnings for Deacon

Deacon started a new child care program at the school last week. They do a preschool curriculum and it's for kids age 3-5. The daycare lady that we loved and adored abruptly closed her doors to pursue another career and we were devastated! We found another in home daycare as soon a we could and he did not like the change :( she didn't have any other kids his age and really didn't seem to know how to entertain older kids so when the school had an opening we jumped at it!! If you know Deacon you know how social he is and how he loved his 'friends'. We just knew he'd thrive in a school setting and we were right!!! He looooves it!! Most parents worry about dropping their kids off for their first day but not us!! He barely gave me a hug and kiss before he was running to his new classmates to join them! What a relief! He is learning a lot and already making new friends :) here's a pic of him so proud of his locker on his first day.

37 weeks!!

On the home stretch!! Had my appt on Tuesday and finally made a lil progress. I'm a 'big' 1 centimeter dilated and 50% effaced. Baby even dropped down lower getting ready to make his/her appearance! Deacon and Kyle came with and Deacon was thrilled to hear his baby brother or sisters heartbeat.  When they were taking my blood pressure he was pretty intrigued and asked a lot of questions. He wanted his taken so bad and when I told him no he said 'but my blood pressure doesn't feel so good!' Haha.  Anyway, the docs opinion is that this babe will be here before 40 weeks and I hope she's right!! Otherwise we may do another growth scan and induce earlier if baby gets too big :/

36 weeks....

So I went to my 36 week appt and walked out a little disappointed.  Baby is still high and not dilated whatsoever.  My doctor asked me if I wouldn’t mind doing another ultrasound just to check on baby’s growth since I had a 7lb9oz baby at 35 weeks last time.  Well of course I said yes!  I wanted to see baby again J  So the next day Kyle & I walk in for our ultrasound and whaddya know baby sure looks big!  Measuring 3 weeks ahead and a whopping 8lbs3oz already.  The tech said that could be off by a pound but YIKES.. I still have a ways to go.  Since baby was measuring over 90% she said she couldn’t let us leave until she called up to my doctor.  He said it was fine to go home and we’d talk about it at my appointment next Tuesday.  I knew baby was big but not THAT big!  I’m getting really uncomfortable so I hope and pray this baby evicts itself before the 40 week mark!!  Also since baby is so crammed in my tummy there was really no room to get a good look or pic at baby’s face or profile L  Although Kyle did say it looked like baby had some hair!  She of course turned the screen away when she went down to privates!  It would be SUCH a letdown to find out this late in the game!    So anyway, now I’m dying to see my doctor next week to see what they think about baby’s size.  I’m hoping they say they’ll induce me before 40 weeks if I don’t go in before then because I can’t IMAGINE being preggers for another MONTH!!  (fingers crossed).

Swimming Lessons

Deacon just started his second round of swimming lessons.  This was his first time doing lessons without me in the water with him.  I thought I signed him up for the beginner class but apparently put him in a little more of an advanced class with mostly 4 & 5 year olds but it ended up being great for him!  He is ALMOST 4 anyway.  When I was looking at the class he should’ve been in half the kids were holding onto the side of the pool screaming and crying for their parents.  Deacon definitely likes the water and is comfortable in it.. he just doesn’t know how to swim without a floaty yet.  They lined them all up and had them jump in to the instructors and then worked on their floating skills.  Deacon didn’t quite get why he wasn’t supposed to be kicking during that but hopefully he’ll catch on.  They also wanted them to all practice dunking their heads underwater and that was the one thing he didn’t want to do.  I’m guessing he’ll have to be able to do that in order to pass through this level.  Deacon also had a hard time remembering to WALK next to the pool since it’s slippery wet and can fall easily.  Well of course you can guess what happened.. he fell pretty hard right in front of the bleacher full of parents. I heard a few gasps from the parents because he hit his shoulder pretty hard but what does he do?!?  Pops up and says “I’M OK!”.. haha that’s my boy!  I knew he was either going to say that or cry.. I’m glad it was the latter J  Needless to say he learned his lesson and will now WALK, not RUN.  I was so proud of how well he did at his first lesson as a BOBBER.. hoping this week goes just as well!

Pregnancy Post... 35 weeks

Well it’s been a month since my last pregnancy post.  I’m now 35 weeks and counting!  It’s crazy to think that if this were Deacon I would’ve had him THIS WEEK!!  Weird.  I have a feeling this baby is going to take his/her sweet time to make an appearance though.  My doctor doesn’t seem to think I’ll make it to 40 weeks but obviously he doesn’t have a crystal ball.  I’ve been having lots of Braxton Hicks contractions that are pretty uncomfortable.  This never happened with D!   I’m already going in for my weekly appointments.  Yesterday at the doc he told me baby is sitting ‘oblique’ which means he/she’s head down but sort of laying diagonally.  I knew it!! I always said I felt a hard butt under my left rib and she or he kicks me under my right.  Hopefully baby straightens out by its birthday!  Other than the contractions and getting up to pee at every hour of the night I feel great.  Nursery is all ready for the most part.  I’ll just have to put up baby’s name decal on the wall once it’s born and I’m still waiting on the rocker/recliner we ordered from Schneidermans.  At this point I feel like it’s just the waiting game.  I’m SOOOO anxious to meet this little girl or boy!!  Everyone at my work seems to think it’s a girl because I’m carrying high and feel so different than with Deacon.  They already started the ‘baby pool’ to place their bets on date & gender haha.  I know it’s so cliché but we really just want a healthy baby and don’t care what it is.  Just give me that little thing to snuggle!!  Deacon’s all ready to be big brother too.  I asked him the other day if he’d change some dirty diapers for me (kiddingly) and he said NO!.. but I’ll hand you wipes?!  Haha GREAT answer buddy.. he’s gonna be such a big help :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

We had a great Halloween this year. Being 34 weeks pregnant I wanted to incorporate my bump somehow. Found these cute iron-on decals online for Kyle & I!

Deacon was a Power Ranger this year.

We have SUCH a fun neighborhood to trick or treat in! Houses go all out with decorations and it's like a big block party. Everyone is out and about with their kids and enjoying some adult beverages :) next year we're going to steal others' idea and pull a trailer on the 4wheeler with a couple coolers ;) Deacon just loved running up to everyone's doors and he was so polite thanking everyone (so proud). He told MANY a kids that he loved their costumes. His favorite house was the one with the gorilla handing out bananas! Brad and Krista joined us and it was a great time. Both sets of deacons grandparents stayed back at our house to hang out and hand out candy for us. So much fun!! I love Halloween!!!
